Monster Returns, the mini-saga

I know this isn't about art, but its probably one of the most important things that has happened to me in a long time so I felt that I should share it here.

I was sitting in my room making jewelry, chatting on facebook and watching a movie on Netflix. A typical sleepless night. Out of no where I hear Monster's meow, there isn't another one like it. I call out her name and she meows again and then a third time. I know i can't put this one off to an auditory hallucination. But why did it sound like it was coming from my room? i tore the place apart looking for her, but found nothing. My heart pounding a little faster I went back to what I'd been doing.
Then again I heard her voice, i called back and she answered, i kept this up following the sound of her voice through the house. She sounded so close! I came to the front door and again she called to me. My ears could hear her but my eyes betrayed me in the inky blackness. I couldn't see her anywhere and she would not come into the house on her own.
I put out some food and went back to my room unsure as to my next move. After what I will admit was a short while, i got back up and went outside in stocking feet with nothing warm but a hoody and started calling her name.
i went into the dark, following her voice as she hid under cars while calling out to me. Then i heard her voice in the barn. She had slipped in through the crack under the door. I of course followed her in calling the whole time as she called back.
i got so close to her i know if i'd had a light i could have grabbed her.
i crawled over broken glass and through tight rusty shelving units, all the while getting closer to her voice...
then she stopped talking. I froze. I couldn't stop now. So i decided to wait her out. I knew she was determined to come home tonight or she wouldn't have kept calling for me.
so i laid down in the middle of the barn with all the lights off and just started a dialogue with her about how i missed her and it was time to come home. Every once in a while i would call out her name.
She started answering me again. i heard her outside the barn so i rushed out and pulled the door closed behind me.
her voice echoed across the property and i honed in on it, slowly echo locating it brought me to a pile of wood. i crawled into the pile talking to her the whlole time in soothing tones as she called back.
finally i got her to rub her head on my hand and i grabbed her as fast as i could.
she half heartedly struggled and then clung to me for dear life as i ran back to the house and into our room where i deposited her on the bed. she hopped down and ate some food which made me soo happy. If she's feeding herself and hungry despite how emaciated she is, i know that she can get better.
And now here she sits on my lap as I type this purring away.

Because armbands are sexy

Flowers aren't just for your hair anymore. I have just designed two types of flowered arm bands, one is on a leather band and closes with a bead/loop closure and the other type is wrap around and can be either worn as an arm band or a bracelet. Each flower is hand sewn to a felt backing for added stability and flare. At the center of each flower is a hand hammered bottle cap with a resin embedded image for permanence.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the above they are all available through my facebook group.

Flower power

Its been a while since I've posted I know, but I have been busy none the less :)
I started off the night finishing up my altered fish purse made from a beanie baby. I lined it with orange polyester, sewed in the liner and zipper by hand and was lucky enough to find a buyer in the same night. The universe was kind to me last night.

Despite pricked and sore finger tips I still had the urge to sew so I decided to make some flowers. It was a good relaxation exercise to undertake while watching random shows on Hulu. In their current incarnations as slightly unfinished they could be made into hair clips, headbands, a crazy over the top piece of jewelry or a patch. I haven't decided what they will each become yet. I expect they will tell me what they want to be ;)
Each one is hand stitched to a felt back ground for added stability. Each center piece is a hand hammered bottle cap with a resin imbedded image for image permanence. The unicorn piece is sprinkled with glow in the dark glitter for a little added fun.

A Taste of Voodoo

As you may or may not know i am a Louisiana creole, and as often seems to be the case i have a bit of magic running through my blood. so when i recently visited NOLA i gathered some spanish moss, prepared and dried it and brought it back for a natural creation material. Once home I gathered up some local natural materials, and so I found myself ready to make voodoo dolls. Don't be fooled these are the real thing and not meant for toying with. Each one is filled with the intention of the dolls design and i find that i cant make more than one in a day. Its a very interesting process that i find i enjoy.

This is the queen of hearts. She is meant to draw love to you or help you keep the love you have
I gave it to my friend Ryan before he headed to his new home.

This one I made to myself. She is for bringing health which i could sure use some more of

This particular gaudy girl is meant to bring wealth, here's to hoping :)
There will soon be more I am sure. If you would like to order one of your own be sure to hit me up and i can begin its creation.

Because dolls are creepy

I found this little beauty and knew immediately that I needed to play a bit with her appearance. I dyed her dress with all natural ingredients you can find in your kitchen with hot water and salt, after drying I proceeded to apply flame for a nice aged look. I hand dyed her hair and painted her skin to match. For an extra touch of the creepy she plays music, though I don't what song.
If you would like to purchase this creepy little beauty feel free to comment :)

hand painted jars: weekend project

I've been meaning to do this for a long time. I've had the jars and supplies sitting around and they finally beckoned loud enough for me to listen. Here is the result:

a sea of bottle caps

I finally almost got around to pouring resin in my bottle caps. i flattened them each with a hammer, cut out a pic (mostly from magazines) glued it in, sealed it and then poured resin over the top to make the images permanent. now all i have to do is add holes and i will have the beginning of pendants, earrings, hair pieces and any accessory that comes the mind :)

swirly hat

Because things are better in twos I present to you hat #2 which was a group project with my mum. She laid down the division lines and the top of the hat as well as the prominent money signs, and I filled in the rest. There's nothing quite as satisfying as making art with someone else.

Equinox Sketch

I have finally gotten around to posting one of my daily drawings and its a fresh one. Only two days old, drawn on the day of the CoSM equinox party.
As per my current tech it started with a single line drawn without intention and i just let my pen wander from there.

wrap it up

I've been turning out wraps left and right, and getting a great response. wire wrapping may be my new favorite obsession :)

This one is a small rock filled with fossil bits wrapped in silver
This is my first multi-stone wrap, im sooo pleased with how it turned out and the best part is that its a 360 wrap and looks just as good from either side. gotta love a necklace where there is no wrong way to wear it :)

A failed glass blow piece is given new life with a bit of wire wrapping :)

Oh yes you saw right, that is infact a spark plug wrapped in wire. i think its totally fun
